Lost a bit of money today day trading Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin for the first time ($360 -> $114) on GDAX. I'm going to try to get some back, but need tips. Let me know if it is worth pursuing.
I'm doing pretty well with the coins I have held but have not had much luck timing the plunges. Anyone have any tips or tricks? I just graduated from college and am job searching, so I have some free time. I would like to just get back to what I had initially, and if all goes well, maybe mess with it further. The end of the grace period on my loans is looming and I would love to get any extra cash I can. Thanks!

The following post by bkcryptotrader is being replicated because the post has been silently greylisted. The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link: np.reddit.com/ Bitcoin/comments/7cnpgx The original post's content was as follows:
You've probably been hearing a lot about Bitcoin recently and are wondering what's the big deal? Most of your questions should be answered by the resources below but if you have additional questions feel free to ask them in the comments. It all started with the release of the release of Satoshi Nakamoto's whitepaper however that will probably go over the head of most readers so we recommend the following videos for a good starting point for understanding how bitcoin works and a little about its long term potential:
Limited Supply - There will only ever be 21,000,000 bitcoins created and they are issued in a predictable fashion, you can view the inflation schedule here. Once they are all issued Bitcoin will be truly deflationary. The halving countdown can be found here.
Open source - Bitcoin code is fully auditable. You can read the source code yourself here.
Accountable - The public ledger is transparent, all transactions are seen by everyone.
Decentralized - Bitcoin is globally distributed across thousands of nodes with no single point of failure and as such can't be shut down similar to how Bittorrent works. You can even run a node on a Raspberry Pi.
Censorship resistant - No one can prevent you from interacting with the bitcoin network and no one can censor, alter or block transactions that they disagree with, see Operation Chokepoint.
Push system - There are no chargebacks in bitcoin because only the person who owns the address where the bitcoins reside has the authority to move them.
Low fee scaling - On chain transaction fees depend on network demand and how much priority you wish to assign to the transaction. Most wallets calculate on chain fees automatically but you can view current fees here and mempool activity here. On chain fees may rise occasionally due to network demand, however instant micropayments that do not require confirmations are happening via the Lightning Network, a second layer scaling solution currently rolling out on the Bitcoin mainnet.
Borderless - No country can stop it from going in/out, even in areas currently unserved by traditional banking as the ledger is globally distributed.
Portable - Bitcoins are digital so they are easier to move than cash or gold. They can even be transported by simply memorizing a string of words for wallet recovery (while cool this method is generally not recommended due to potential for insecure key generation by inexperienced users. Hardware wallets are the preferred method for new users due to ease of use and additional security).
Bitcoin.org and BuyBitcoinWorldwide.com are helpful sites for beginners. You can buy or sell any amount of bitcoin (even just a few dollars worth) and there are several easy methods to purchase bitcoin with cash, credit card or bank transfer. Some of the more popular resources are below, also check out the bitcoinity exchange resources for a larger list of options for purchases.
Here is a listing of local ATMs. If you would like your paycheck automatically converted to bitcoin use Bitwage. Note: Bitcoins are valued at whatever market price people are willing to pay for them in balancing act of supply vs demand. Unlike traditional markets, bitcoin markets operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Preev is a useful site that that shows how much various denominations of bitcoin are worth in different currencies. Alternatively you can just Google "1 bitcoin in (your local currency)".
Securing your bitcoins
With bitcoin you can "Be your own bank" and personally secure your bitcoins OR you can use third party companies aka "Bitcoin banks" which will hold the bitcoins for you.
If you prefer to "Be your own bank" and have direct control over your coins without having to use a trusted third party, then you will need to create your own wallet and keep it secure. If you want easy and secure storage without having to learn computer security best practices, then a hardware wallet such as the Trezor, Ledger or ColdCard is recommended. Alternatively there are many software wallet options to choose from here depending on your use case.
If you prefer to let third party "Bitcoin banks" manage your coins, try Gemini but be aware you may not be in control of your private keys in which case you would have to ask permission to access your funds and be exposed to third party risk.
Note: For increased security, use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) everywhere it is offered, including email! 2FA requires a second confirmation code to access your account making it much harder for thieves to gain access. Google Authenticator and Authy are the two most popular 2FA services, download links are below. Make sure you create backups of your 2FA codes.
As mentioned above, Bitcoin is decentralized, which by definition means there is no official website or Twitter handle or spokesperson or CEO. However, all money attracts thieves. This combination unfortunately results in scammers running official sounding names or pretending to be an authority on YouTube or social media. Many scammers throughout the years have claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin. Websites like bitcoin(dot)com and the btc subreddit are active scams. Almost all altcoins (shitcoins) are marketed heavily with big promises but are really just designed to separate you from your bitcoin. So be careful: any resource, including all linked in this document, may in the future turn evil. Don't trust, verify. Also as they say in our community "Not your keys, not your coins".
Where can I spend bitcoins?
Check out spendabit or bitcoin directory for millions of merchant options. Also you can spend bitcoin anywhere visa is accepted with bitcoin debit cards such as the CashApp card. Some other useful site are listed below.
Mining bitcoins can be a fun learning experience, but be aware that you will most likely operate at a loss. Newcomers are often advised to stay away from mining unless they are only interested in it as a hobby similar to folding at home. If you want to learn more about mining you can read more here. Still have mining questions? The crew at /BitcoinMining would be happy to help you out. If you want to contribute to the bitcoin network by hosting the blockchain and propagating transactions you can run a full node using this setup guide. If you would prefer to keep it simple there are several good options. You can view the global node distribution here.
Just like any other form of money, you can also earn bitcoins by being paid to do a job.
You can also earn bitcoins by participating as a market maker on JoinMarket by allowing users to perform CoinJoin transactions with your bitcoins for a small fee (requires you to already have some bitcoins.
The following is a short list of ongoing projects that might be worth taking a look at if you are interested in current development in the bitcoin space.
One Bitcoin is quite large (hundreds of £/$/€) so people often deal in smaller units. The most common subunits are listed below:
one bitcoin is equal to 100 million satoshis
1,000 per bitcoin
used as default unit in recent Electrum wallet releases
1,000,000 per bitcoin
colloquial "slang" term for microbitcoin (μBTC)
100,000,000 per bitcoin
smallest unit in bitcoin, named after the inventor
For example, assuming an arbitrary exchange rate of $10000 for one Bitcoin, a $10 meal would equal:

Someone posted on here a few days ago asking about forex and forex trading in Kenya, I have gone through the responses and clearly, most people don’t have an idea. It is 3am in the morning and am in a good mood so let me make this post. This will be a comprehensive and lengthy post so grab a pen and paper and sit down. We’ll be here a while. FIRST OF ALL, who am I..? I am a forex trader, in Nairobi, Kenya..i have been actively involved in forex since I found out about it in Feb 2016 when I somehow ended up in a wealth creation seminar (lol) in pride inn Westlands, the one close to Mpaka Rd. Luckily for me, it was not one of those AIM global meetings or I’d be on Facebook selling God knows what those guys sell. I did not take it seriously till August of the same year and I have been active ever since. I don’t teach, mentor or sell a course or signals, I trade my own money. I am also posting from a throwaway account because I don’t want KRA on my ass. What the fuck is forex and forex trading. In simple plain English, forex is like the stock market but for currencies. Stock Market = Shares, forex = currencies. If you want more in-depth explanation, google is your friend. These currencies are pegged on specific countries, united states- dollar, UK- pound, euro zone- euro, Switzerland- Swiss franc, Kenya- Kenya shilling.. you get the point. Now, there are specific events and happenings between these economies that affect the movement and values of the currencies, driving their value (purchasing power up and down). Forex trading exploits these movements to make money. When the value is going up, we buy and vice versa (down –sell) Is forex trading illegal in Kenya? Is it a scam? Illegal, no. scam, no. All the banks in the world do it (KCB made about 4 billion from trading forex in 2019) Have there been scams involving forex in Kenya? Yes. Here is one that happened recently. This one is the most infamous one yet. Best believe that this is not the end of these type of scams because the stupidity, greed and gullibility of human beings is unfathomable. However, by the end of this post, I hope you won’t fall for such silliness. What next how do I make it work..? Am glad you asked. Generally, there are two ways to go about it. One, you teach yourself. This is the equivalent of stealing our dad’s car and hoping that the pedal you hit is the brake and not the accelerator. It is the route I took, it is the most rewarding and a huge ego boost when you finally make it on your own. Typically, this involves scouring the internet for hours upon hours going down rabbit holes, thinking you have made it telling all your friends how you will be a millionaire then losing all your money. Some people do not have the stomach for that. The second route is more practical, structured and smarter. First Learn the basics. There is a free online forex course at www.babypips.com/learn/forex this is merely an introductory course. Basically it is learning the parts of a car before they let you inside the car. Second, start building your strategy. By the time you are done with the babypips, you will have a feel of what the forex market is, what interests you, etc. Tip..Babypips has a lot of garbage. It is good for introductory purposes but not good for much else, pick whatever stick to you or jumps at you the first time. Nonsense like indicators should be ignored. The next step is now the most important. Developing the skill and building your strategy. As a beginner, you want to exhaust your naivety before jumping into the more advanced stuff. Eg can you identify a trend, what is a pair, what is position sizing, what is metatrader 4 and how to operate it, what news is good for a currency, when can I trade, what are the different trading sessions, what is technical analysis, what is market sentiment, what are bullish conditions what is emotion management, how does my psychology affect my trading (more on this later) an I a swing, scalper or day trader etc Mentors and forex courses.. you have probably seen people advertising how they can teach and mentor you on how to trade forex and charging so much money for it. Somehow it seems that these people are focused on the teaching than the trading. Weird, right..? Truth is trading is hard, teaching not quite. A common saying in the industry is “Those who can’t trade, teach” you want to avoid all these gurus on Facebook and Instagram, some are legit but most are not. Sifting the wheat from the chaff is hard but I did that for you. The info is available online on YouTube, telegram channels etc. am not saying not to spend money on a course, if you find a mentor whose style resonates with you and the course is reasonably priced, please, go ahead and buy..it will cut your learning curve in half. People are different. What worked for me might not work for you. Here are some nice YouTube channels to watch. These guys are legit..
After a short period of time, you will be able to sniff out bs teachers with relative ease. You will also discover some of your own and expand the list. Two tips, start with the oldest videos first and whichever of these resonates with you, stick with till the wheels fall off. How long will it take until things start making sense Give yourself time to grow and learn. This is all new to you and you are allowed to make mistakes, to fail and discover yourself. Realistically, depending on the effort you put in, you will not start seeing results until after 6 months. Could take longeshorter so there is no guarantee. Social media, Mentality, Psychology and Books Online, forex trading might not have the best reputation online because it takes hard work and scammers and gurus give it a bad name. However, try to not get sucked into the Instagram trader lifestyle as it is nowhere close to what the reality is. You will not make millions tomorrow or the day after, you might never even make it in this market. But that is the reality of life. Nothing is promised, nothing is guaranteed. Your mentality, beliefs and ego will be challenged in this market. You will learn things that will make you blood boil, you will ask yourself daily, how is this possible, why don’t they teach this in school..bla bla bla..it will be hard but growth is painful, if it wasn’t we’d all be billionaires. Take a break, take a walk, drink a glass of whatever you like or roll one..detox. Chill with your girl (or man) Gradually you will develop mental toughness that will set you up for life. Personally, I sorta ditched religion and picked up stoicism. Whatever works for you. Psychology, this is unfortunately one of the most neglected aspects of your personal development in this journey. Do you believe in yourself? Can you stand by your convictions when everyone is against you? Can you get up every day uncertain of the future? There will be moments where you will question yourself, am I even doing the right thing? the right way? It is normal and essential for your growth. People who played competitive sports have a natural advantage here. Remember the game is first won in your head then on the pitch. Books: ironically, books that helped me the most were the mindset books, Think and grow rich, trading for a living, 4 hour work week, the monk who sold his Ferrari..just google mindset and psychology books, most trading books are garbage. Watch and listen to people who have made it in the investing business. Ray Dalio, warren, Bill Ackman and Carl Icahn. This is turning out to be lengthier than I anticipated so I’ll try to be brief for the remaining parts. Brokers You will need to open up an account with a broker. Get a broker who is regulated. Australian ones (IC Market and Pepperstone) are both legit, reliable and regulated. Do your research. I’d avoid local ones because I’ve heard stories of wide spreads and liquidity problems. International brokers have never failed me. There are plenty brokers, there is no one size fits all recommendation. If it ain’t broke..don’t fix it. Money transfer. All brokers accept wire transfers, you might need to call your bank to authorize that, avoid Equity bank. Stanchart and Stanbic are alright. Large withdrawals $10k+ you will have to call them prior. Get Skrill and Neteller if you don’t like banks like me, set up a Bitcoin wallet for faster withdrawals, (Payoneer and Paypal are accepted by some brokers, just check with them.) How much money can I make..? I hate this question because people have perceived ceilings of income in their minds, eg 1 million ksh is too much to make per month or 10,000ksh is too little. Instead, work backwards. What % return did I make this month/ on this trade. Safaricom made 19.5% last year, if you make 20% you have outperformed them. If you reach of consistency where you can make x% per month on whatever money you have, then there are no limits to how much you can make. How much money do I need to start with..? Zero. You have all the resources above, go forth. There are brokers who provide free bonuses and withdraw-able profits. However, to make a fulltime income you will need some serious cash. Generally, 50,000 kes. You can start lower or higher but if you need say 20k to live comfortably and that is a 10% return per month, then you can do the math on how big your account should be. Of course things like compound interest come into play but that is dependent on your skill level. I have seen people do spectacular things with very little funds. Taxes..? Talk to a lawyer or an accountant. I am neither. Family? Friends? Unfortunately, people will not understand why you spend hundreds of hours watching strangers on the internet so it is best to keep it from them. Eventually you will make it work and they will come to your corner talking about how they always knew you’d make it. The journey will be lonely, make some trading buddies along the way. You’d be surprised at how easy it is when people are united by their circumstances (and stupidity) I have guys who are my bros from South Africa and Lebanon who I have never met but we came up together and are now homies. Join forums, ask questions and grow. That is the only way to learn. Ideally, a group of 5-10 friends committed to learning and growth is the best model. Pushing each other to grow and discovering together. Forex is real and you can do amazing things with it. It is not a get rich quick scheme. If you want a quick guaranteed income, get a job. And now it is 5am, fuck. This is oversimplified and leaves out many many aspects. Happy to answer any questions.
They're not just a POS business, they are building infrastructure to be the financial institution of a tech-driven world. They have their own Venture Capital firm that gives out loans to SMBs and screens their historical transactions to gauge the risk and interest rates. Capital can be accessed the same business day instead of going formally to a bank with your papers and giving out a standardized interest rate to all businesses and waiting so many days for capital. The FDIC recently approved Square's bank charter application. All this to me suggests regulation accepting the grand network of financial tools in a world that has been skewing more and more towards technology. They're working on making it a multi-faceted company that will meet all of your business needs. e.g. small loans, payment processing, payroll, restaurant logistics; the all-in-one ecosystem that is intuitive and easy to use and impossible to leave. Earnings per share this year = 950% Earnings growth nxt yr = 245% Future ROE = 63.5%; The return on equity is a measure of the profitability of a business in relation to the equity.SQ became profitable this year for the first time. Square has two ecosystems: 1- POS 2- Cash App Imagine combining both, using cash app to purchase stocks, receive dividends, receive tips, receive pay check. Why invest in SQ? This company can takeover the world literally with internet currencies. During these times of printing so much money can devalue our currency so much. The collapse of fiat currency is almost impossible but if ever something like that happens; SQ will be a world champion compared to all its financial peers. https://preview.redd.it/1gapxa0qcpd51.png?width=1142&format=png&auto=webp&s=2d51010439b1523a46e52b8915adfbc870d84f40 As we can see, Bitcoin revenue segment has been going up huge and will be going higher because of covid19. Yes, transactions will fall because less consumer spending but BTC will rise ( as seen in the past days) therefore SQ is in a good position because of recessions. This is why I believe there is a good chance that SQ will post a profit this Q. Revenue has been growing immensely every Q. https://preview.redd.it/t13le2prcpd51.png?width=1155&format=png&auto=webp&s=35376a7d989867438758b9e8691698c2ca73feae https://preview.redd.it/47n5pegtcpd51.png?width=913&format=png&auto=webp&s=00aa7ee5f0baefa32047e16246dd9bd0cd5c8d24 China GDP = dark blue; Mobile payment transactions = purple; In only 5 years, the transactions are 3x the GDP of China. This is an immense growth potential that SQ will be first in line to take in that growth. Competitors only for cash app? Venmo & Zelle"Cash App's rising performance is in part thanks to its ability to monetize its growing user base: It brought in $30 in annualized revenue per monthly active customer, excluding Bitcoin, in December 2019, up from less than $15 in December 2017, Ahuja said. However, the revenue gained from P2P transactions alone likely isn't enough to successfully monetize a platform — Cash App has managed to monetize from several services while some of its competitors have struggled to do so, strengthening Square's already important subscriptions and service-based revenue segment.“ Basically, this means that these companies are struggling to keep up with SQ because cashapp is incredibly quick to create new services for customers. Secondly, it is better to invest with SQ just because you access two different ecosystems. These two ecosystems can be combined, which will change the world and disrupt banks. Yes, Square will have to work with banks because of jurisdiction and regulations. But as the regulations ease up, SQ will depend less on banks."Fueled by the improving user metrics, June witnessed Cash App growth of 130% above April/May levels, indicating a steepening adoption curve. Cash App is a peer-to-peer mobile payment app developed by Square that now offers enhanced functionalities such as receipt of direct deposit payments, ACH payments, and stock and bitcoin trading. The recent momentum, according to the analyst, is tied to government stimulus payments and equity trading. "Cash App adoption related to these factors, among others, likely offer monetizable second-order benefits such as Cash Card and Instant Deposit adoption," Beck wrote in the note.” https://finance.yahoo.com/news/squares-cash-app-growth-adoption-164046320.html Technical Analysis: https://preview.redd.it/mrc169uvcpd51.png?width=1213&format=png&auto=webp&s=068a65d4a696aa6b82c728e2dc11694754fd37c8 We see a wedge at the current price. It is stagnant at the moment because investors are waiting for earnings. If earnings are green, it will go break $134 resistance point. If earnings are bad, it will not break $100 strong support line. If you are looking for a short-term play, you can buy it now and expect a minimum of 10$ profit per share if earnings are good. If it is bad, I would say it will go down to $105 at the minimum (loss of around $20 per share) I believe the perfect entry price would be around $110 at the moment. My personal price target for 2022 is $375. Disclosure: **I hold a massive amount of ARKK. Planning to add SQ ASAP**
Syscoin Platform’s Great Reddit Scaling Bake-off Proposal
https://preview.redd.it/rqt2dldyg8e51.jpg?width=1044&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=777ae9d4fbbb54c3540682b72700fc4ba3de0a44 We are excited to participate and present Syscoin Platform's ideal characteristics and capabilities towards a well-rounded Reddit Community Points solution! Our scaling solution for Reddit Community Points involves 2-way peg interoperability with Ethereum. This will provide a scalable token layer built specifically for speed and high volumes of simple value transfers at a very low cost, while providing sovereign ownership and onchain finality. Token transfers scale by taking advantage of a globally sorting mempool that provides for probabilistically secure assumptions of “as good as settled”. The opportunity here for token receivers is to have an app-layer interactivity on the speed/security tradeoff (99.9999% assurance within 10 seconds). We call this Z-DAG, and it achieves high-throughput across a mesh network topology presently composed of about 2,000 geographically dispersed full-nodes. Similar to Bitcoin, however, these nodes are incentivized to run full-nodes for the benefit of network security, through a bonded validator scheme. These nodes do not participate in the consensus of transactions or block validation any differently than other nodes and therefore do not degrade the security model of Bitcoin’s validate first then trust, across every node. Each token transfer settles on-chain. The protocol follows Bitcoin core policies so it has adequate code coverage and protocol hardening to be qualified as production quality software. It shares a significant portion of Bitcoin’s own hashpower through merged-mining. This platform as a whole can serve token microtransactions, larger settlements, and store-of-value in an ideal fashion, providing probabilistic scalability whilst remaining decentralized according to Bitcoin design. It is accessible to ERC-20 via a permissionless and trust-minimized bridge that works in both directions. The bridge and token platform are currently available on the Syscoin mainnet. This has been gaining recent attention for use by loyalty point programs and stablecoins such as Binance USD.
Syscoin Foundation identified a few paths for Reddit to leverage this infrastructure, each with trade-offs. The first provides the most cost-savings and scaling benefits at some sacrifice of token autonomy. The second offers more preservation of autonomy with a more narrow scope of cost savings than the first option, but savings even so. The third introduces more complexity than the previous two yet provides the most overall benefits. We consider the third as most viable as it enables Reddit to benefit even while retaining existing smart contract functionality. We will focus on the third option, and include the first two for good measure.
Distribution, burns and user-to-user transfers of Reddit Points are entirely carried out on the Syscoin network. This full-on approach to utilizing the Syscoin network provides the most scalability and transaction cost benefits of these scenarios. The tradeoff here is distribution and subscription handling likely migrating away from smart contracts into the application layer.
The Reddit Community Points ecosystem can continue to use existing smart contracts as they are used today on the Ethereum mainchain. Users migrate a portion of their tokens to Syscoin, the scaling network, to gain much lower fees, scalability, and a proven base layer, without sacrificing sovereign ownership. They would use Syscoin for user-to-user transfers. Tips redeemable in ten seconds or less, a high-throughput relay network, and onchain settlement at a block target of 60 seconds.
Integration between Matic Network and Syscoin Platform - similar to Syscoin’s current integration with Ethereum - will provide Reddit Community Points with EVM scalability (including the Memberships ERC777 operator) on the Matic side, and performant simple value transfers, robust decentralized security, and sovereign store-of-value on the Syscoin side. It’s “the best of both worlds”. The trade-off is more complex interoperability.
Syscoin + Matic Integration
Matic and Blockchain Foundry Inc, the public company formed by the founders of Syscoin, recently entered a partnership for joint research and business development initiatives. This is ideal for all parties as Matic Network and Syscoin Platform provide complementary utility. Syscoin offers characteristics for sovereign ownership and security based on Bitcoin’s time-tested model, and shares a significant portion of Bitcoin’s own hashpower. Syscoin’s focus is on secure and scalable simple value transfers, trust-minimized interoperability, and opt-in regulatory compliance for tokenized assets rather than scalability for smart contract execution. On the other hand, Matic Network can provide scalable EVM for smart contract execution. Reddit Community Points can benefit from both. Syscoin + Matic integration is actively being explored by both teams, as it is helpful to Reddit, Ethereum, and the industry as a whole.
Total cost for these 100k transactions: $0.63 USD See the live fee comparison for savings estimation between transactions on Ethereum and Syscoin. Below is a snapshot at time of writing: ETH price: $318.55 ETH gas price: 55.00 Gwei ($0.37) Syscoin price: $0.11 Snapshot of live fee comparison chart Z-DAG provides a more efficient fee-market. A typical Z-DAG transaction costs 0.0000582 SYS. Tokens can be safely redeemed/re-spent within seconds or allowed to settle on-chain beforehand. The costs should remain about this low for microtransactions. Syscoin will achieve further reduction of fees and even greater scalability with offchain payment channels for assets, with Z-DAG as a resilience fallback. New payment channel technology is one of the topics under research by the Syscoin development team with our academic partners at TU Delft. In line with the calculation in the Lightning Networks white paper, payment channels using assets with Syscoin Core will bring theoretical capacity for each person on Earth (7.8 billion) to have five on-chain transactions per year, per person, without requiring anyone to enter a fee market (aka “wait for a block”). This exceeds the minimum LN expectation of two transactions per person, per year; one to exist on-chain and one to settle aggregated value.
Tools to simplify using Syscoin Bridge as a service with dapps and wallets will be released some time after implementation of Syscoin Core 4.2. These will be based upon the same processes which are automated in the current live Sysethereum Dapp that is functioning with the Syscoin mainnet.
The Syscoin Ethereum Bridge is secured by Agent nodes participating in a decentralized and incentivized model that involves roles of Superblock challengers and submitters. This model is open to participation. The benefits here are trust-minimization, permissionless-ness, and potentially less legal/regulatory red-tape than interop mechanisms that involve liquidity providers and/or trading mechanisms. The trade-off is that due to the decentralized nature there are cross-chain settlement times of one hour to cross from Ethereum to Syscoin, and three hours to cross from Syscoin to Ethereum. We are exploring ways to reduce this time while maintaining decentralization via zkp. Even so, an “instant bridge” experience could be provided by means of a third-party liquidity mechanism. That option exists but is not required for bridge functionality today. Typically bridges are used with batch value, not with high frequencies of smaller values, and generally it is advantageous to keep some value on both chains for maximum availability of utility. Even so, the cross-chain settlement time is good to mention here.
Ethereum -> Syscoin: Matic or Ethereum transaction fee for bridge contract interaction, negligible Syscoin transaction fee for minting tokens Syscoin -> Ethereum: Negligible Syscoin transaction fee for burning tokens, 0.01% transaction fee paid to Bridge Agent in the form of the ERC-20, Matic or Ethereum transaction fee for contract interaction.
Zero-Confirmation Directed Acyclic Graph is an instant settlement protocol that is used as a complementary system to proof-of-work (PoW) in the confirmation of Syscoin service transactions. In essence, a Z-DAG is simply a directed acyclic graph (DAG) where validating nodes verify the sequential ordering of transactions that are received in their memory pools. Z-DAG is used by the validating nodes across the network to ensure that there is absolute consensus on the ordering of transactions and no balances are overflowed (no double-spends).
Unique fee-market that is more efficient for microtransaction redemption and settlement
Uses decentralized means to enable tokens with value transfer scalability that is comparable or exceeds that of credit card networks
Provides high throughput and secure fulfillment even if blocks are full
Probabilistic and interactive
99.9999% security assurance within 10 seconds
Can serve payment channels as a resilience fallback that is faster and lower-cost than falling-back directly to a blockchain
Each Z-DAG transaction also settles onchain through Syscoin Core at 60-second block target using SHA-256 Proof of Work consensus
Z-DAG enables the ideal speed/security tradeoff to be determined per use-case in the application layer. It minimizes the sacrifice required to accept and redeem fast transfers/payments while providing more-than-ample security for microtransactions. This is supported on the premise that a Reddit user receiving points does need security yet generally doesn’t want nor need to wait for the same level of security as a nation-state settling an international trade debt. In any case, each Z-DAG transaction settles onchain at a block target of 60 seconds.
Syscoin 3.0 White Paper (4.0 white paper is pending. For improved scalability and less blockchain bloat, some features of v3 no longer exist in current v4: Specifically Marketplace Offers, Aliases, Escrow, Certificates, Pruning, Encrypted Messaging)
16MB block bandwidth per minute assuming segwit witness carrying transactions, and transactions ~200 bytes on average
SHA256 merge mined with Bitcoin
UTXO asset layer, with base Syscoin layer sharing identical security policies as Bitcoin Core
Z-DAG on asset layer, bridge to Ethereum on asset layer
On-chain scaling with prospect of enabling enterprise grade reliable trustless payment processing with on/offchain hybrid solution
Focus only on Simple Value Transfers. MVP of blockchain consensus footprint is balances and ownership of them. Everything else can reduce data availability in exchange for scale (Ethereum 2.0 model). We leave that to other designs, we focus on transfers.
Future integrations of MAST/Taproot to get more complex value transfers without trading off trustlessness or decentralization.
Zero-knowledge Proofs are a cryptographic new frontier. We are dabbling here to generalize the concept of bridging and also verify the state of a chain efficiently. We also apply it in our Digital Identity projects at Blockchain Foundry (a publicly traded company which develops Syscoin softwares for clients). We are also looking to integrate privacy preserving payment channels for off-chain payments through zkSNARK hub & spoke design which does not suffer from the HTLC attack vectors evident on LN. Much of the issues plaguing Lightning Network can be resolved using a zkSNARK design whilst also providing the ability to do a multi-asset payment channel system. Currently we found a showstopper attack (American Call Option) on LN if we were to use multiple-assets. This would not exist in a system such as this.
Web3 and mobile wallets are under active development by Blockchain Foundry Inc as WebAssembly applications and expected for release not long after mainnet deployment of Syscoin Core 4.2. Both of these will be multi-coin wallets that support Syscoin, SPTs, Ethereum, and ERC-20 tokens. The Web3 wallet will provide functionality similar to Metamask. Syscoin Platform and tokens are already integrated with Blockbook. Custom hardware wallet support currently exists via ElectrumSys. First-class HW wallet integration through apps such as Ledger Live will exist after 4.2. Current supported wallets Syscoin Spark Desktop Syscoin-Qt
Updated list of Global Beermoney opportunities (+180!) - June 2020
Updated list of Global Beermoney opportunities (+180!) - June 2020
The current, and now previous, Beermoney Global list started nearly 5 years ago. It’s been updated and has grown over all that time, but it also became a hassle to keep current. It was time to build a new list from scratch based on my experience in the Beermoney world over all these years and all the contributions all of you have been making in this sub. The lists consist of opportunities that are available in at least one country that is not the US. This means there are sites which only work in Canada or the UK. There’s sites which are open to the whole world, but this does not mean everyone can really earn something on it. It’s all still very demographic and therefore location dependent. This list should give you a starting point to try out and find what works for you. I’m not using everything myself as I prefer to focus on a few, so not all are tested by me. They are found in this sub, other subreddits and other resources where people claim to have success. I’ve chosen the format of a simple table with the bare minimum of information to keep things clean. It includes a link, how you earn, personal payment proof if available and sign-up bonus codes if applicable. Some of these bonuses are also one-time use codes specifically made for this sub! For the ones I don’t have payment proof (yet) feel free to provide some as a comment or via modmail so others know it’s legit. I am working on detailed instructions for each method that I personally use which will include things like cashout minimum, cashout options, tips & tricks,... For now I’ve split things up based on the type of earning like passive or mobile. Because of this there’s sometimes an overlap as some are both passive and on mobile or both earning crypto and a GPT (Get Paid To) website. The lists are obviously not complete so I invite you to keep posting new ones in the sub, as a comment to this post, or in modmail. Especially if you have sites or apps which work for one single specific country I can start building a list, just like I did for The Netherlands and Belgium. If you recognize things which are in fact scams or not worth it let me know as well.
Get Paid To (Surveys, tasks, offers, videos, clicking links, play games, searching)
For The Netherlands there are a few very good options next to a bunch of ‘spaarprogramma’s. There ‘spaarprogramma’s are all the same where you receive and click a bunch of e-mails, advertisements, banners,... I advise you to create a separate e-mail address or use a good filter in your inbox as you will be spammed to death. I believe they can be a nice piece of beermoney but they take quite the effort.
UPDATE (6/1): You may notice some changes in the feature with the new iOS app release. We're working closely with Apple and will share updates as available. *** TL;DR: Bricks are a new way for people to be rewarded for their contributions toFortNiteBR. Claim your Bricks in the newVaultsection of the Reddit iOS or Android app! They are owned entirely by you, they show up next to your username, and they can be transferred, tipped, and spent inFortNiteBR. https://preview.redd.it/djx80qikmly41.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=dcec52e363348eb9d3f984a32abbb18a374d6cd9 Today we’re launching a new feature in limited communities called Community Points. Community Points are a way for users to be rewarded for their contributions with a piece of the subreddit. Community Points can be earned, tipped, won, collected, and spent on unique items within a community. Each subreddit has its own stylization of Community Points, and the ones in FortNiteBR are called Bricks. A Brick
How do you get Bricks?
Bricks are distributed monthly based on individual contributions (comments, posts, etc.) that people make in FortNiteBR. Reddit karma provides a basis for measuring people’s contribution, but the final decision is up to the community.
What can you do with Bricks?
Bricks can be traded freely and used for any number of purposes within the community. At this time, they can be used to display reputation within the subreddit, unlock exclusive features like badges and GIFs in comments with a Special Membership, and add weight to votes in polls. Note: Bricks are not affiliated with Epic Games.
On the Blockchain
Bricks exist on the Ethereum blockchain, independently of Reddit, where they can only be controlled by you (just like Bitcoin!). This means once you’ve earned them and they’re in your Vault, neither Reddit nor moderators can take your Bricks away or decide what you do with them. They’re all yours.
How to get started with your Reddit Vault
The first Bricks will soon be distributed to every active contributor in the subreddit with at least 100 karma. You can get started by claiming your Bricks in the new Vault section of the Reddit mobile app, which also includes more details on the start-up process and how Bricks work. Please note that you will need to set up your Vault the first time you access it, and you will need to be on the latest version of the Reddit app (2020.17.0 or later). We will be rolling the Vault out over the course of the day, so if you don’t see it now, please check back later. See the inspiration for Community Points and get started
We are launching Community Points today in a couple of subreddits that have opted into this experiment and with whom we have been working closely. As some of you know, our team has been developing features for FortNiteBR for over a year now. We are very excited to launch our biggest project yet and hear what you think. None of this would be possible without your continued help and support. So thank you! We’ll be sticking around to answer any questions you have, so please ask away in the comments below.
Free $10 in BTC at Gemini Exchange (also using stablecoin)
Gemini is a well-known cryptocurrency exchange from the US, regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), so definitely a trustworthy company. They offer a $10 referral bonus after trading $100 in crypto, which works almost anywhere in the world. With the below steps you should lose max. $1 with the trading so that's $9 profit. There are no fees for withdrawing the crypto to your own wallet. You can also deposit and trade with a stablecoin (either DAI or GUSD) to avoid any volatility risk. Steps:
If you are not comfortable with crypto offers, you can do this offer without currency risk if you convert your own currency (pounds/euros/dollars) to a stablecoin. A stablecoin is a kind of cryptocurrency which value is pegged to a real-world currency. For this offer you can use the DAI stablecoin, which value is pegged to the US Dollar.
Sending cryptocurrencies to and from Gemini
You can buy DAI stablecoins easily at the Crypto.com app, since they currently have no fees for purchases with a credit/debit card until June 30. The process is quite easy through their app. Otherwise you could use Bitpanda for example or another exchange.
After you buy the stablecoins at one of the platforms mentioned above, you have to send it to your Gemini account. To send the DAI to Gemini, you need to get the deposit address for DAI from your Gemini account. You copy this address and enter it as the address to withdraw to in the platform where you bought the DAI, like the Crypto.com app. The transfer should be done in an hour max. The cost to transfer DAI from the Crypto.com app is 1 DAI.
After you got the bonus, you can withdraw your DAI that you deposited back to Crypto.com or another platformwhere you can convert it back to pounds or euros. The bonus is paid out in Bitcoin, so you'll have to do a seperate transfer for that. After they arrive in your Crypto.com app, you can convert both the bonus BTC and the stablecoin (DAI) back to pounds/euros. You can withdraw them then to your bank account without any fees.
Hope this extra information helps, please let me know if I should add anything :)
LOEx Market Research Report on August 27: After BTC's slight adjustment, will the bull market still persist?
[Today's Hot Tips] 1.[Tether official: USDT market value has exceeded $ 13 billion] Tether official data shows that the market value of Tether (USDT) has exceeded $ 13 billion. Since March 2020, the market value of Tether (USDT) has increased by 160% from $5 billion. 2.[The central parity of RMB against the US dollar is raised to 6.89 USDT, the premium rate is 0.35%] According to the currency world market, the central parity of RMB against the US dollar rose by 176 points from the previous day to 6.8903. The central parity rose to its highest value since January 23, 2020, the largest increase since August 6, 2020. The onshore RMB exchange rate against the US dollar is now at 6.886, and the OTC offer of USDT' on Boboo.com is 6.91 yuan, with a premium of 0.35%. 3.[Cardano founder shared two sets of ECIP, including ETC funding mechanism and use of checkpoints to defend against 51% attacks] Cardano founder, Charles Hoskinson, shared two sets of ECIP on Twitter. The first is to implement the original treasury system (p-ECTS) proposal in ETC. The main motivation of p-ECTS is to establish a stable and reliable funding mechanism for independent teams. This proposed change includes adjustments to large rewards so that: 1.80% of block rewards go to miners; 2.20% for p-ECTS smart contract addresses or burning addresses. The second is to use checkpoints as a mechanism to mitigate certain types of 51% attacks. The core idea is to hire a group of external forces to run auxiliary services to ensure the attributes of the ledger, which can be relied on when the invested hash power is low. Once the hash power reaches a level where the attack is no longer financially feasible, the system can be stopped. [Today's market analysis] Bitcoin (BTC)BTC shot up for a short time in the early morning and then fell back. It continued to consolidate around 11450 USDT with relatively small fluctuations. Mainstream currencies are adjusted daily. BTC is currently reported at 11400.2 USDT on LOEx Global, an increase of 0.61% in 24h. The trend of mainstream currencies is sluggish, and the disk is in a relatively weak situation. At this time, it is not recommended to increase the position, just keep holding it if you have a bottom position. The market trend of the currency market is still sluggish. Recently, the shorts have taken the advantage. They have rubbed the longs on the ground all the way. However, since the last high point of Bitcoin, it has only fallen by about 10% in the past 10 days. Such an amplitude is not worth mentioning in the currency market, and the currency market is moving towards a slow bull trend. Looking at the long term, it is normal for the bull market to pull back frequently, even though this wave of small bull market brought by altcoins looks like a "fake bull market" . However, it cannot be denied that altcoins have indeed brought the market hot. With the rise of DeFi, the application of the combination of the financial field and blockchain technology has landed. This makes the people in the currency circle have a greater daydream about the future application scenarios of blockchain technology. And this wave of cottage prices will then affect the market rhythm next year. But no matter what, only when the application is implemented and there is a real demand can its value be truly realized. For Bitcoin, the benefits of the general environment have provided a solid bottom support for the price of Bitcoin, which means that it will be difficult to see 3,000 yuan a Bitcoin in the future. Bitcoin with a strong consensus is our primary investment currency, altcoins will eventually be short-lived, and Bitcoin will continue to rise after minor adjustments. Operation suggestions: Support level: the first support level is 11000 points, the second support level is 10400 integers; Resistance level: the first resistance level is 11500 points, the second resistance level is 12000 points.
